Uniform

Please see the link https://www.newtonleysprimary.org/page/?title=Uniform&pid=48 for our uniform policy. Please note that if your child is not in the correct uniform, we will let you know so that you can help them be in the correct uniform the following day. This includes jewellery, if it is not worn for a religious reason, please keep this at home.

P.E. days

Year 5's P.E. day is on a Thursday. Please ensure your child comes to school in their P.E. kit on these days.

Home learning

We know that our children will excel the most through school when they are reading and practising their times tables and spelling at home. Please ensure your child is reading regularly at home, practising their weekly spellings and continuing to practise their times tables. They will be given a list of the spellings that will be tested each Friday. These will be inside your child’s spelling book which they take home. Children should revise key instant recall facts at home. We will assess them on this at the end of each half term.  This will give them the best chance of progression. We know that children love to learn at home and if they create presentations or complete projects of something they are engaged with, we love to see these.

We don't have reading records at our school this year. This is following feedback and pupil voice however, please rest assured that your child is being listened to with their reading at school and your support with this at home gives your child the best chances in developing their reading.

Snacks

Your child can bring in a healthy snack to eat at breaktimes.

Phones

If your child brings their phone to school, we will ask them to turn it off and it will be locked away in the classroom until home time.
